August 2018: The Month Of The Mustang

August has already been a monumental month for Ford, with the company releasing details of new vehicles and new plans for the future. One vehicle that has been at the center of it all throughout August is the Ford Mustang, Ford’s legendary sports car that has earned the love of car enthusiasts worldwide.

This month, Ford has unveiled a series of Mustangs that exemplify the vehicle’s status as a beloved vehicle around the globe. From Mustangs built for the track to incredible one-off vehicles, let’s look at the Mustangs that demanded attention in August.

Ford NASCAR Mustang

For the first time ever, the Ford Mustang will grace the tracks at racing’s grandest stage: the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The Mustang, the world’s best-selling sports car, has been raced ever since it was first sold in 1964 and will make its NASCAR debut within the next year. It’s stylish, ridiculously fast and it’s coming to a track near you.

The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT

Earlier this summer Ford unveiled the one-off Eagle Squadron Mustang GT, a 700-horsepower Mustang made exclusively for an annual fundraiser and auction hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association. The vehicle’s design commemorates the Eagle Squadron, a group of United States pilots who flew missions alongside the Royal Air Force prior to World War II. The Eagle Squadron Mustang was auctioned off to raise money for youth aviation education, raising $420,000 for the cause.

The 50th Anniversary Ford Mustang Cobra Jet

To honor the original Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, Ford is producing a limited-run of 68 50th Anniversary models of the famed drag racing Mustang. This model, capable of tackling a quarter-mile run in the mid-eight-second range, can reach speeds of approximately 150 mph and is built to drag race.

A Kona Blue Mustang Bullitt

This Mustang, a one-off of Ford’s 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt, comes in Kona Blue and is being raffled off to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Raffle tickets are available online to win this stunning, one-of-a-kind Mustang that packs a 5.0-liter engine capable of producing 480 horsepower and speeds up to 163 mph.

The 10 Millionth Ford Mustang

Ford reached a remarkable milestone in early August, producing its 10 millionth Ford Mustang. To commemorate the achievement, Ford held employee celebrations at both is Dearborn, Michigan headquarters and at their Flat Rock Assembly Plant. The 10 millionth Ford Mustang was a 2019 Wimbledon White GT six-speed convertible with a V8 engine — a vehicle that paid tribute to the first-ever serialized Ford Mustang, which was in attendance at the festivities.
